Our big beautiful City Pool right in the heart of the City Park.
Great for those lazy-hazy days of summer and activities for
the kids (of all ages)!
Have your child's next birthday party there.  Call the City of Goldthwaite for information on hours of operation, 325-648-3186.

We also have excellent summer baseball programs for tee ball, little league, softball and pony league with two recently completed baseball fields for a total of 5 fields in all.

We have many ranches here for breeding livestock such as goats, cattle, white tail deer.  Some of these ranches also offer hunting leases to local or out of town hunters. (see Hunting page for more info on leases).

Deer, Quail, Dove and Turkey Hunting is very popular and there are an abundance of all of them here in Mills County.

The Civic Center and T.A. Head Arena:

We have a very large Civic Center here which hosts events such as our youth rodeo, stock shows, banquets and other events are held here during the year. (see Calendar of Events page). This is a great place for Reunions and get to-gethers or large meetings.
We have the large T.A. Head Rodeo Arena right behind the large Civic Center.  Lot's of action at each event held there.

Historic Downtown Goldthwaite:

Mills County's First Jailhouse            Mills County Courthouse                Courthouse Square

Mills County Museum:

Take a walk down Memory Lane or soak up some local history on your visit to the Mills County, and stop at the Museum.  There are too many artifacts to list, but here are some:  Did you ever wonder what an old dentist office looked like, or a beauty shop, have you ever seen hundreds of arrowheads at one time, or a kitchen set up from the early 1900's.  This is a Museum to be proud of, care is taken of each display and displayed as it was years ago.  It is an asset to Mills County History.  Visitors are welcome, please call for hours of operation. Located at 1119 Fisher Street in downtown Goldthwaite.

Regency Suspension Bridge:

The Regency Suspension Bridge is located twenty miles southwest of Goldthwaite in southwestern Mills County off of CR 574.  Built in 1939, the one-lane bridge is one of only two historic suspension bridges still open to vehicular traffic in Texas.  Built for the counties of Mills and San Saba by the Austin Bridge Company of Dallas Texas, the Regency Suspension Bridge is one of the last remaining suspension bridges in use in Texas. The Regency Suspension Bridge spans 340 feet from tower to tower. Both cables are pulled tight for another 134 feet behind each tower where they are anchored into the ground. The towers rise approximately 30 feet above the bridge floor. The bridge stands 25 feet above the recorded high water level of the Colorado River at Regency. The flooring for the bridge was constructed with 4 by 12 inch lengths of lumber.
Narrative was extracted from the Texas State Historical Commission search for the Swinging Bridge

Goldthwaite City Golf Course:

On State Hwy 16, 3 miles south of Goldthwaite is the 9-hole golf course.  There is a pro-shop, cart sheds to store your cart, paved cart paths, a putting green and a driving range.   It is operated by a 7-member non-profit golf board.  For those of you who are golfers, it is a serene place to enjoy a game of golf.
